Description
The Contractor (Align JV) has identified a package of works for the Mechanical and Electrical installations associated with our works on the Chiltern Tunnels. The main works locations will be the 5 intervention shafts (Headhouse and Shaft activities) along the route and the 2 tunnel portal buildings at either portal location (north and south). The works cover, but it not limited to the following installations: Mechanical Services / Public Health (ventilation, air conditioning, heating, Fire Fighting, Fire Suppression etc.), Electrical Installations (Electrical services, power supply systems, emergency lighting, fire detection/alarms, BMS, Automatic Control, lighting etc.). The scope will include all necessary containment needed for all the installed systems and also the provision of the containment needed for the follow-on Rail Systems scope. (The provision of lifts at each shaft location may also form part of the scope, and also any minor M&E requirements needed to the Colne Valley Viaduct - TBC). The scope will include the detailed design of the systems (effectively RIBA Stage 4) and through to installation on site (RIBA stage 6) - It is anticipated that there will be a significant design period prior to commencing on site and therefore only companies who have suitable design/management resources (and approach) will be considered. It is anticipated that the package will be awarded to 1 tenderer (to ensure a consistent design and common equipment utilisation) and be assessed against a commercial (price) and technical split - it is anticipated that the split will recognise some key technical requirements from the successful tenderer (Design capability/Management/Approach (to develop design at RIBA stage 4), Cyber-Security Assessments, Programme, Experience, BIM Capabilities etc.). In July 2017, ALIGN (Bouygues Travaux Publics, Sir Robert McAlpine and Volker Fitzpatrick) won the significant C1 package of the UK High Speed 2 line (HS2). Lot C1 consists of 21.6km of high speed rail infrastructure in a rural environment. This will include a 3.37km viaduct, 15.75km twin-tubes tunnel and five vent shafts handling both piston effect and tunnel ventilation.
