Description
Colchester Borough Homes on behalf of Colchester Borough Council, are seeking full architectural services for the design of new affordable homes on existing CBC garage sites. Colchester Borough Council (CBC) has ambitious plans to deliver up to 350 new Council owned homes by 2024. Delivery of these homes are through a wide range of initiatives and working with its wholly owned company Colchester Amphora Homes Limited (CAHL) and Arm's Length Management Organisation (ALMO) Colchester Borough Homes (CBH). CBC is committed to delivering more affordable homes in Colchester to reduce the housing register which holds approximately 3,000 applicants. CBC is also committed to delivering more adaptable and accessible homes to meet Building Regulations 2015 Part M4 Cat 2 and Cat 3 to ensure there is a supply of newbuild affordable homes for households with enhanced accessibility requirements. CBH, on behalf of CBC are seeking architectural services for the next Phase 3 garage site developments for affordable housing. The aim for the development is to provide 30 dwellings across 6 sites that have been identified as below: •Cross Cottages •Holly Road •Hedge Drive •Prospero Close •Veronica Walk •Wheeler Close CBC require delivery of 30 new affordable homes that are sensitive to the circumstances and constraints of each site, demonstrating excellence in design of the brand for CBC council housing. The new Council houses are to be provided with a mixture of housing types. These types are to be replicated across the sites with adjustment for each individual site. Six housing types have been identified as below: •2 bed house •2 bed flat •2 bed bungalow •3 bed house •3 bed bungalow •4 bed house/bungalow We would like there to be a strong focus on environmental considerations and carbon emissions in line with the Council's ambition to be zero carbon by 2030.
