Tenders are invited from interested parties for the design and build of the Smart Innovation Hub (otherwise known as MCIL / KIEIL / Hub 1) under a single-stage design and build contract. The proposal is to create an iconic new building on the Keele University Science and Innovation Park at the gateway in to the Keele University campus. Early stage and growth potential research and innovation businesses (benefiting from the expertise of co-located) Keele (University) Management School, will accommodate offices on the ground and first floors. A large central atrium area will connect a range of flexible spaces on the lower ground floor, the use of which will be shared between research and innovation businesses, teaching and research. The Smart Innovation Hub is a new, BREEAM excellent stand-alone building to be located on Plot 2 of the Keele University Science and Innovation Park. The new building will accommodate research and innovation intensive early stage and growth potential businesses and Keele University Management School (Faculty of Humanities and Social Science). Multi-functional spaces will be used by both user groups. The design team (Architect and Civil and Structural Engineer only) will be novated to the successful main contractor on appointment. The Form of Contract to be utilised will be the NEC3 Engineering and Construction contract as will be amended by KUSBPL as specified in the procurement documents. Tenderers are invited to submit variant bids. Any Tenderer submitting a variant bid is also required to submit a compliant bid. The minimum requirements to be met by the variants and any specific requirements for the presentation of an offer which contains variants are stated in the procurement documents. The Smart Innovation Hub is part funded from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds England Growth Programme 2014-2020, Staffordshire County Council, the University of Keele and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Single Local Growth Fund.
