Description
Whitby Boxing Club (WBC) is an inclusive, volunteer led amateur sporting club that works with individuals of all ages in Whitby and the surrounding area to promote active involvement in the sport of boxing. Working with the Directors of the Eastside Community Centre, and Scarborough Borough Council, the club is proposing to build a purpose built extension to the South side of the existing building developing upon what is currently unused green space. The extension will include a large training space for the exclusive use of Boxing / training / combat sports activity under a long-term sublease agreement with Eastside Community Centre. The extension will also include a new purpose built reception area which will be used by the Boxing Club and other Centre users as the new main entry point into the buildings as it will link both the existing Centre space and will be staffed by a mix of paid staff and volunteers. The new extension build will incorporate new toilet facilities (disabled access) that will be for the exclusive use of the boxing club and will ensure that boxers will not have to walk through and disturb other sessions in the main hall to access the existing toilets. A small consultant team is now required to : • prepare a Concept and Spatially Coordinated Design (RIBA Stage 2-3) ) for the extension of Eastside Community Centre providing a sports hall, toilet upgrade, new storage area, reception area and office. • prepare a Technical Design (RIBA Stage 4) ) for the extension of Eastside Community Centre providing a sports hall, toilet upgrade, new storage area, reception area and office. • procure a main contractor to construct the works. • provide project management and supervision of the construction works and defects period. • undertake the role of Principal Designer under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. All contracts will be between Whitby Boxing Club and the Consultant. Scarborough Borough Council is simply assisting Whitby Boxing Club in the procurement and delivery of the project.
