Description
Cam Parish Council is inviting quotes to: i. Divert the tarmac perimeter footpath at Jubilee Playing Fields, Cam, GL11 5UL, to take users away from the skatepark and re-join the existing footpath at a further point, and ii. To create a new, short footpath linking the new footpath to the MUGA The new diverted footpath will cross an area of ground prone to becoming water-logged and therefore this footpath will need to be built up to avoid puddling. Consideration must also be given to water-shedding practices to ensure the surface does not become water-logged or eroded. Cam Parish Council would like contractors to advise on the best method of achieving a built-up pathway of water-shedding design and to fully show this advice in their quotes. Materials, depth of materials and work practices must be shown. Tenders will be measured against price, quality, contractors' solutions to issues detailed within the summary above, detailed schedule of work, cross section drawing with dimensions and materials used. It is envisaged the footpath diversion could be achieved by: 1. Creating a new section of pathway measuring approximately 130 metres long from the skatepark to an area on the far side of the MUGA (red line on attached map). 2. This footpath to join the existing path at the skatepark, but to go out by 1 metre to leave a section of grass between the skatepark and the new footpath. 3. The new footpath to be at least 1.2 metres wide and made of up of a suitable depth of tarmac to match the existing footpath. 4. The new footpath to be built up to avoid waterlogging from marshy ground, particularly near the MUGA. However, this footpath must be at ground level when it rejoins the existing footpath. 5. A grass strip must be left at either side of the new pathway to offer a suitable width of passing space for pedestrians and park users using mobility scooters/wheelchairs etc. 6. A suitable permeable membrane must be laid under the tarmac. 7. The new footpath to be laid between concrete edgings. It is envisaged the linking footpath could be achieved by: 8. Creating a new section of pathway measuring approximately 5 metres long from the newly created pathway to the MUGA, opposite the existing linking pathway (pink line on attached map). 9. This to be 1.2 metres wide and made up of a suitable depth of tarmac to match the existing footpath. 10. A suitable permeable membrane must be laid under the tarmac. 11. The new linking footpath to be laid between concrete edgings. 12. The site to be left clean and tidy on completion. 13. All works must be started within 3-months of the awarding of the contract. Failure to do this may result in Cam Parish Council cancelling the contract.
